Image processing happens in your browser. This is a per-recipient trust test for private distribution, not unbreakable DRM. A readable tag on an untransformed file is strong evidence of a direct hand-off from that marked recipient copy; it is not proof of who shared it.
Leak Tracer marks a copy with a recipient tag. Some crops and edits can be read, but recovery depends on the image and is not guaranteed.
